From the Global Stage to Our Home Base: Meet Our New CTO, Dominik Wilkowski

We have some big news to share around the Homhero halls today! We are thrilled to officially welcome Dominik Wilkowski to the team as our new Chief Technology Officer (CTO).

If you’ve been following our journey, you know we’re obsessed with building the best tools for property managers across Australia and New Zealand. To continue providing that enterprise-level experience you deserve, we are expanding our leadership team to include someone with deep experience in scaling global platforms.

Global Expertise, Locally Grown

Dominik joins us after an impactful stint at Shopify, where he managed over 200 developers across four continents. Even while operating at that global scale, supporting millions of merchants and keeping the lights on with 99.9% uptime, Dominik has called the Gold Coast home. We are fortunate to have this kind of world-class experience right here in our own backyard.

At Shopify, he was an architect behind major API realignments and even managed to ship a brand-new design language to the entire product in just 12 weeks. That’s the kind of high-octane energy he’s bringing to the Homhero platform!

A Customer-First Coder

While Dominik has led massive teams, he isn’t the type of leader who just sits in boardrooms. He is a deeply hands-on engineer who still loves to get into the code, particularly Rust and TypeScript.

Most importantly for you, our partners, Dominik is a customer-driven CTO. He believes that the best code is written only after listening to the people actually using the software. He’s here to turn your feedback into features and ensure our platform remains the most robust in the industry.

The Fun Stuff: Underwater Hockey?

When he’s not streamlining our APIs or leading the Brisbane Rust Meetup, Dominik has a slightly submerged hobby. He plays underwater hockey. Yes, it’s a real thing, and yes, it’s as intense as it sounds. It requires a lot of breath-holding, strategy, and teamwork – skills that, coincidentally, are pretty useful when you’re navigating the fast-paced world of short-term rental tech!

Dominik is officially based in our Gold Coast office full-time, and he’s already hit the ground running.
